Hello Kelly Rink Skaters of JP, Roxbury, and beyond:
We’re excited to welcome you back to the Kelly Rink for the 2021 Learn to Skate program! We have been developing a modified program that takes into account important safety and public health guidelines developed by:
- the Center for Disease Control
- the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (DPH and DCR)
- the City of Boston
We recognize that any plans may also need to change should state and local guidelines change over the course of the coming months.
Due to COVID safety measures, we are anticipating the following changes to this year’s program:
- We will not be able to offer our introductory Snowplow Sam program this year (beginning program for 5 year olds). At this age/experience level, it will be impossible to maintain physical distancing on the ice. For the 2021 season we are able to invite back only returning skaters, and every skater will need to be able to move about the ice independently.
- There will be a maximum of 30 skaters on the ice (reducing both class sizes and overall enrollment capacity).
- The warming room will be closed. Additional benches will be installed to enable skate changing.
- There will be separate entry and exit ice access to reduce crowding.
- Only one parent/guardian per skater will be permitted at the rink; parents/guardians are encouraged to remain in their cars during the lesson (when feasible) and to follow social dististancing guidelines at all times.
- There will be a 5 minute break between lessons to reduce crowding.
- Skate rental staffing will be limited, and skates will be disinfected between rentals. Expect delays.. and be patient.

¡Queremos invitarles a Kelly Rink para el programa Learn to Skate 2021! Desarrollaremos un programa modificado que considera las pautas de seguridad y salud pública articulado por:
- Center for Disease Control
- Commonwealth of Massachusetts (DPH and DCR)
- City of Boston
Reconocemos que cualquier plan puede cambiar si las pautas estatales y locales cambian en el transcurso de los próximos meses.
Debido a las medidas de seguridad de COVID, estamos anticipando los siguientes cambios en el programa de este año:
- No podremos ofrecer el programa Snowplow Sam este año (programa inicial para niños de 5 años). A esta edad / nivel de experiencia, será imposible mantener la distancia física en el hielo. Para el año 2021, solo podemos invitar a los patinadores que tienen experiencia antes, y cada patinador deberá poder moverse por el hielo independientemente.
- Habrá un máximo de 30 patinadores en el hielo (una reducción en el número de estudiantes en cada clase, y también en la capacidad total de inscripción).

- Habrá acceso independiente de entrada y salida al hielo para reducir la multitud de gente presente.
- Solo se permitirá un padre / guardián por patinador en la pista; Se alienta a los padres / guardianes a permanecer en sus autos durante la lección (cuando sea posible) y seguir las pautas de disturbio social en todo momento.
- Habrá un descanso de 5 minutos entre lecciones para reducir la multitud de gente presente.
- El personal de alquiler de patines será limitado y los patines se desinfectarán entre alquileres. Espere retrasos … y tenga paciencia.
